The Position: Disability support worker 
Job type:  Casual 
Location: Salisbury, Adelaide, South Australia

We’re looking for Disability Support Workers in Salisbury, Adelaide, South Australia.

This casual position will require you to  Support participants who live in the community, in their own homes

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact and empower people to maximise independence. As one of our valued Support Workers, you will be a friendly and approachable person. You will provide person-centred support to enable access to a quality life with dignity, respect and social inclusion in the least restrictive and safe environment. While it is a casual role, there may be future opportunities to transition into a permanent role if you prove to be a great fit and love the role.

Specific employment requirements

  • Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in disability OR a relevant course
  • Current DCSI Disability Check OR NDIS disability clearance
  • Current DCSI Children Check (or SA Working with Children’s Check)
  • Current FULL Australian Drivers Licence and reliable transport
  • A current First Aid Certificate  (HTLAID003) and Current CPR 
  • Minimum of 3 months paid experience working in Disability
  • Possess a reliable vehicle with the willingness to transport participants for work purposes in your own car
  • Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Applicants must have a legal right to work in Australia.
  • Current police check

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting people with personal care, using manual handling equipment, assisting with medication and other activities of daily living
  • Supporting people that display challenging behaviours/behaviour support
  • Prepared to work shift work, which includes morning, afternoon, evening and weekends. 
  • Able to be on-call and pick up emergency shifts
  • Completing administrative tasks including case notes, mandatory reporting, and handovers
  • Teaching and modelling appropriate social skills.
  • Assisting individuals with identifying and achieving their personal goals
  • Implementing person-centred approach
  • Assistance in the meal preparation for clients
  • Community Participation
